Important Information On Structural Web

By Tiffany Gill

The structural web process is a process that is used in production of plastic parts. Glass assist as it is also known works through the injection of low amounts of pressure to the hollow parts. Through this injection, the parts produced tend to have varying degrees of thickness that are not only superior in terms of design, but also very reliable.

In this process, nitrogen gas is injected immediately after resin has been injected. The injection takes place in the mold cavity. The nitrogen gas will assist in helping push the plastic that has already been melted out of the cavity walls.

Nitrogen gas introduction and injection is meant to help it follow the path of least resistance. In following the path of least resistance, it will enable the designers to work with the plastics in any way they would like. This flexibility is very important.

This type of technology is highly favored by manufacturers and people who work with plastic. It has opened up a lot of new possibilities when it comes to developing different types of parts. It has also helped eliminate the limitations that were previously present.

When it comes to benefits associated with using this product, there are quite a few of them. Weight has been reduced by between ten to thirty percent. The reduction in weight has also meant that the costs associated with materials are now lower than before.

Products that are of a larger size can now be built using many smaller parts. Each of these parts will play a different function in the finished product. Producing large parts from smaller components also means that cost is greatly reduced while at the same time increasing the efficiency of the end product.

Appearance wise, glass assist has been very good as well. Plastic products made using this technology are not only efficient, but also better looking. They all come with a smooth exterior and an even glossier finish. This finishing is all thanks to the low pressure technology that has been utilised.

Normal injection comes with very many limitations especially in terms of what can be engineered and what cannot be engineered. In glass assist products can be made from a large combination of resins with a lot of ease. Highly engineered resins and additives can also be used in this particular type of production.

Designers now find it easier to apply color and texture to products. In previous cases, the issue of texture was a big concern as many resources were utilised when producing the products. Less color products are used which also means that resources and money is now saved.

Structural web involves molding using low amounts of pressure. This therefore means that less energy is consumer for every pound of plastic that is produced during manufacturing. The materials that are used in this process are also very few and all this is possible without compromising on the quality of the end product.
