Is It A Spare Time Activity Or A Business That You Want

By Dwight Morgan

A lot of people have a pastime that improves their lives, but it's not the be all and end all of their existence. Lots of people coming to the Internet do so with the perception that it's going to enrich them. The only problem is they treat their new business like a hobby instead of a business.

Their downfall is that they carry on and treat their new Zija start up business as a hobby. You can't deal with a business as a hobby and expect it to work. Having a web business requires a great deal more than doing what you like and generating a small amount of cash monthly. If that fulfills you, well, then you have a spare time activity that possibly pays for itself.

If you'd like your online marketing to be effective, then you need to treat it as a business. There has to be a business plan in position with the aim of a profit being turned. Nobody starts up an enterprise, either offline or on the web, without having the aim of having the business take care of their family members. Offline you can be successful simply by sticking with the steps laid out by a proven franchise. The same principle applies to internet marketing, but you have to find the right plan for you.

You have to have a plan which has strategic targets for the long range. Take the building plans for a house - you will always find a depiction of what the finished house will look like. The builder knows what the end product should look like. You have to know what you want your business to look like in a specific amount of time, say 5 years. When you know that, you work your way in reverse to ascertain what you should do at each and every stage along the way. If you plan with goals for each and every step of the way, from the long term down to monthly and even daily ones, your plan will never seem unobtainable.

All you do in online marketing also must become part of a system. If you're doing article marketing and you hire out the writing, you will need a system for doing it. An unsystematic approach can get you nothing but poor results. It's going to also mean a total waste of your scarce monetary resources. You need to have a budget, that you simply stay with.

If you do not have a budget that restrains expenditure, every good-looking idea that presents itself will chew up your funds without really proving useful. You'll simply purchase things to move your business onward, when you're marketing on a budget that has been developed in a business-like manner.

The mere fact of adhering to a business plan will cause you to earn more money, as it will have ceased to be a pastime. The lack of a proper plan is the prime reason for people not doing well at internet marketing. They spend their time chasing after one golden desire after the other.
