Large machinery commonly known as heavy equipment is mostly used for agricultural purposes during transportation and in construction. One thing that you should know about the machinery is that running it can be expensive. Poor maintenance of the machine will reduce its life span as it will require being repaired regularly. This is something that will result to breaking down of the machines. There are lots of benefits achieved in daily maintenance of the machinery. This will help in identifying problems that may later cause greater complications. Poorly maintained machinery is hazardous to those operating it. Provided here are heavy equipment service measures that are quite helpful.

First and foremost, you should make a good plan of the maintenance procedure required and the reasons to adhere on it. Some things have to be done daily while others require a strict use of a specific plan that has been set. After you have laid down your plan, there after you can continue in the daily steps of your machineries maintenance process.

When undertaking your daily check ups, you should look at different pieces of your machinery that are being operated. Checking out the various pieces will help in identifying those which are worn out. You will also identify signs of oil leakage. Ensure that every day the tires have the right pressure. This will help in preventing tire bursts. Ensure that you thoroughly clean all the debris in the machinery. Check out the belts and chains so as to ensure that they are held in the right position.

Greasing should be done thoroughly on the parts that are joined together for lubricating purposes on daily bases. Protection signs and gears should be placed in well displayed place and where they can easily be acquired. Important fluids such as hydraulic, coolant or even oils should be checked daily. Just in case the levels are below the required one, you can top up before the start of any work. Putting into use a machinery with less fluid required is very dangerous as it reduces the durability of the machinery. One should also remember to clean the air filters in case there is any dirt.

If the machinery has been in use for about 3 months or even 500 hours it is wise that it should undergo a complete service. One of the best services is changing the oil, hydraulic filters and also the engine oil. Even the diesel fuel filters should also be changed after 3 months.

The last service should be done at the end of the period. This service is usually done at the end of the year. At this duration, the hydraulic oil and transmission fluids should be completely changed. One should ensure that antifreeze in the radiator is in good condition in order to work effectively on the winter season.

Draining of the fuel that was being used during summer should be done so as to refill it. Draining the fluid will help to prevent the fuel lines from hardening especially during the cold season. Thorough cleaning of the machinery should be carried out while paying close attention to the engine and undercarriage. Cleaning of cab and air filters should also be carried out.

You should also clean the air conditioning unit. All the lights should be ensured that they are in order and in case one is not in good order, it should be replaced. All the tires should be checked and in case of any tear or wear then they should be replaced in this period of heavy equipment service. This will help in saving valuable time that can be lost in case of any damages.
