The Main Levels Of An Auditorium Seating

By Jerri Perry

Your enjoyment, ticket price and exposure on a theater would depend on the type of seats you have chosen. The pattern of seats on certain theaters would be dependent on the shape and the size of such arenas. Small arenas might have poor seating arrangement while larger arenas would have a better seat outline. It however is important to know that irrespective of the shape and size of certain theaters, each arena would have certain auditorium seating charts which would require you to choose the sort of seats to go for.

The best seat grade in a stage is the orchestra which has a proscenium arch. The arrangement of chairs in an orchestra would depend on proximity and sightlines. Seats in the orchestra are divided into the prime, the side and rear orchestra . The commonly used seats in an orchestra are the upholstered, fixed and fold-up chairs.

After the orchestra are the box seats. Box chairs are mainly separated using walls or curtains. The chairs on this level are mainly placed on an elevated platform to ensure the people within such areas can see the stage completely. Box seats are cheaper when compared to the ones in the orchestra.

Mezzanine seats follow the box seats at the upper area of the orchestra. The divisions in the mezzanine vary from the front seats to the left and right chairs. When sitting on the front area, you can completely view the arena as compared to when sitting in the left or right chairs. The problem with these chairs is that, even when sitting at the front area you would not get full exposure to the arena.

Gallery is yet another seat which follows the mezzanine. These are mostly placed at an elevated level but very far from the main stage. While people here would pay cheaply, they may not have the exposure to the full view of the stage. Mostly, these seats are made to help the viewers just have a partial view of the stage.

A thrust stage would need a different type of seat arrangement that is mostly three-on the sides approach. To help people see properly the seats here would be also raked together. The major seats used in thrust stages are the upholstered, retractable and the fixed.

Circular arenas do not have the same seat arrangement as other arenas. This is because most of chairs here would be placed on a circular style while the theater would be at a place higher than the chairs to ensure spectators would see the stage better. Chairs used in a circular arena would rely on the designer and the stage owner.

Until when you find yourself sitting on auditorium seating watching certain performers, it can be very tricky to commend about the comfort offered by certain chairs. Therefore, people should be always careful when buying the tickets for certain seats within particular arenas. It is for instance important to do a thorough research on the arena seat designs to be able to know which seats to choose and why choose them. Doing a thorough research can be a great way to ensure you buy tickets for the best chairs in certain stages.
