Selling With A Trade Show Display

By Matt Smith

It is up to a company to make a great presentation when executing a promotional or marketing campaign. When the campaign communicates directly to the public its purpose and benefits, it is most likely to be effective. Using a trade show display is no different as it provides a great amount of exposure during a one time event.

Making a great first impression is important in these cases. When a company decides to attend a trade event, all in charge of promotions needs to ensure that the booth space is used wisely. This means being practical when choosing what to show off and distribute to those in attendance.

Often in the case of those attending a show for the first time is the likelihood to go overboard. While there is nothing wrong with a little flash or decorative item that are eye catching, they need to keep in mind how the space will be used. Even when there is ample space to work with due to a nice budget, they must consider some factors that could affect future sales.

Ensuring the right booth size, as well as location, is another factor to consider when preparing for a show. Though a booth space may be cheap, whether or not it is close to door that leads to the dumpster can have a great effect on direct sales. There are also other things like whether electric items will be used to help demonstrate products or services.

Those planning the trade show should keep the demographic in mind always. Knowing whether to expect the general public or a niche group, like executives or other businesses, can give an idea as to how the booth should be set up. Some details are available at the time of registration, although there are some things where it helps to ask the person in charge of the venue directly.

Knowing the general direction of people is helpful when setting up a booth for direct sales. When envisioning how the event itself will be set up, it can give an idea as to what the mindset of the prospect may be. This also affects how those attending the booth should present themselves. Though a corner booth may be cheap, the question to ask is will they have to take extra steps to get the attendees attention.

Placement is an area where some have to experiment before they find the right display type. While signs may be visible, everything else should be placed in a manner where it is visible and practical so attendees will see it at the right time. This is why it helps to choose a display with careful consideration.
